Blue (formerly Bretagne Télécom) confirms the opening of its next data center in Nantes at the end of 2024. The data protection specialist based in Châteaubourg, near Rennes, will double its storage capacity, increasing from 5,000 to 10,000 managed servers. This second data center, entirely ecological, covers nearly 2000 m².

After acquiring its first data center in Rennes 12 years ago, Blue chose to open a second in Nantes. The objective is to provide customers with proximity and a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) between the two sites: “2ms to do 125km”This new 2,000m²* Datacenter meets the growing demand for sovereign and eco-responsible Cloud solutions.

Un ecological data center

“The Nantes Datacenter is designed to offer cutting-edge infrastructure, guaranteeing maximum availability and advanced protection against potential threats,” says Réda Belouizdad, Marketing and Communications Director. Using a green HVAC air conditioning system with redundancy, the Datacenter benefits from a tempered water loop for free cooling, reducing energy consumption related to water production. The redundancy of the 2N (closed) water loop and the confinement of the bays in the hot aisle allow to conserve heat and evacuate the calories recovered in the offices, aiming for a PUE of 1.2. In addition, it will be equipped with two electrical and two hydraulic channels, modular inverters with very high efficiency of 97%, as well as potentially recycled generators, ensuring optimal performance and durability.. »

The decision to locate this Datacenter in Nantes allows Blue to reduce latency times and improve the accessibility of its services. It also allows it to double its capacity from 5,000 to 10,000 outsourced servers. Finally, Blue wants to establish itself as close as possible to the 2,500 SMEs, mid-cap companies and large groups that it hosts. This choice combined with the fact of controlling the entire IT system allows the Breton SME to be more reactive in the event of a cyberattack. At the same time, the group of 180 employees chaired by Nicolas Boittin will also continue its recruitment. The expected turnover for 2023 amounts to 41 million euros.
