The Dax should start Tuesday’s session lower, according to calculations by banks and brokerage houses.

European stock markets returned to the path of recovery at the start of the week. The German index gained 0.9% to 18,326 points on Monday. It thus exceeded its high of last week and consolidated the foundations of its recovery, commented Konstantin Oldenburger of CMC Markets.

The customs dispute between the European Union and China continues to worry investors. Stock market participants are particularly focused on the prospect of discussions on planned European import duties on Chinese electric cars. On Monday, the signs of calm had brought relief to German car manufacturers.

On the economic side, the data highlight is scheduled for Friday: Investors are eagerly awaiting the PCE price index, considered the US Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation. Investors are hoping that US inflation data will give them guidance on when the US Federal Reserve will first cut interest rates. Earlier today, data from the US Consumer Sentiment Survey is due.
