No stress against Poland, other than knowing their next opponent. After Albania’s defeat against Spain and Croatia’s draw against Italy, France is already qualified for the final phase.
We knew it. The 24-player formula for Euro football would bring its share of matches without much at stake during the third day of the group stage with four best third-placed qualifiers out of six groups. And so here are France and the Netherlands already qualified for the round of 16, before their meeting against Poland and Austria respectively. Of course, there will remain one issue in the Blues match on Tuesday, at 6 p.m., that of the place in group D.
Avoid the top of the table
If France finishes first in its group, it will face the second in group F, that of Portugal, guaranteed to be first, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Georgia. If Didier Deschamps’ protégés finish second, they would face the second in Group E, that of Belgium, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine. But above all they would fall to the top of the table which includes Germany, Spain and Portugal.

Finally, if France fails in third place, following a defeat against Poland combined with a victory for Austria against the Netherlands, then it would play either against Spain or against the first of group C , that of England.
