It was in Montpeyroux that the rural mayors of Puy-de-Dôme met on Saturday, November 16, to discuss but also to think together about the dreaded announcements from the Government concerning their allocations and therefore the definition of their operating budgets. .
Mayor of Saint-Martin-des-Plains for 41 years, François Crégut was somewhat fatalistic: “Mayors have always had to make do with pieces of string. Seeing our allocations decline means the risk of losing attractiveness for businesses in our small towns, and therefore of seeing even more difficulties in the future in all areas.” Alas, the elected official who is honoring his final mandate is worried about the future of the villages in our region.
“We will not abandon the rural mayors of our department” – Lionel Chauvin (President of the department)
Present at this assembly, just like the Prefect Joël Mathurin, the President of the Departmental Council, Lionel Chauvin, came to bring a message to local elected officials: “We will not abandon the rural Mayors of our department! We will stand together as one, all together, with strength, vigor and determination. We will continue to support the rural municipalities of the department with the means that are ours, it is a matter of our collective responsibility.”
It is therefore with a certain apprehension that all rural Mayors will follow the work of Michel Barnier's Government, but with the desire to continue to carry out their projects.
