After trying different sports, Thibault turned to a career as an amateur footballer. When making a choice between becoming a professional footballer and a journalist, the qualities tipped the scales to one side. Author of a very good first season with Stade de Reims in Ligue 1, Ilan Kebbal was then unable to continue his momentum. Indeed, the Algerian was clearly no longer part of the plans in Champagne and he did not hesitate to pack his bags. Kebbal was loaned to Paris FC where things didn't really go any better. Ilan Kebbal is having fun today at Paris FC, with whom he was notably in the typical Ligue 2 team last season. The Algerian shines with the Parisian club, but that has clearly not always been the case for him. In fact, having arrived at PFC in 2022, first as part of a loan from the Stade de Reims, Kebbal had a very complicated first few months. For the show Offside, Ilan Kebbal returned to his ordeal experienced upon his arrival at Paris FC. He explained: “ I wanted to play football, I have no shame in telling myself that I am in Ligue 1 and going down to Ligue 2. I have no problem. At the beginning, my agent talked to me about Ligue 2, I preferred going to Ligue 2 than staying in Reims and not playing. So I agreed to return to Ligue 2 at Paris FC. In the end, I didn't play the first season. I played again a little at the end and it saved me from my loan. It was hard, this year was the hardest of my career ».
“He didn’t want to make me play”
Ilan Kebbal then added: “ When I go on loan to Paris FC, I play 4 matches and then, from October to March, I haven't played a single match. I came home for 2-3 minutes. I was with Thierry Laurey, who didn't like me. We're not going to lie. If we could put an U12 in my place, we would have put an U12, he didn't want to put me. I had some preconceptions about this coach. I took my car from Reims to go to Paris and speak with the coach. He spoke with me and told me he wanted to change, to play football. I sign, I play 1, 2, 3 matches and from the 4th, I no longer play. He didn't want to make me play, they made full-backs play in my place ».
