Call for applications
The current mandate of the lieutenants of louveterie of Haute-Corse will end in December 31, 2024.
Louveterie lieutenants must be renewed for the next term, which will take effect on January 1, 2025 for a renewable period of 5 years.
This is the purpose of this call for applications.
The louveterie lieutenants are appointed by the Prefect and contribute, under his control, within the limits of their district, to the regulation and destruction of animals likely to cause damage. They are the administration's technical advisors on the problems posed by wildlife management; administrative hunts and hunts are organized under their control and under their technical responsibility.
Their functions are voluntary and they must be able to assume the financial burdens linked to their function, with regard to the material resources to be mobilized.
The provisions relating to the exercise of the functions of louveterie lieutenants appear in articles L.427-1 to L.427-7 and R427-1 to R427-4 of the Environmental Code.
During a first application campaign, the desired number of candidates was not filled; applications are once again open for the 2 remaining constituencies.
Conditions of appointment
Pursuant to article R.427-3 of the Environmental Code, the conditions to be met in order to apply are as follows:
- be of French nationality;
- reside in the department or a neighboring canton;
- enjoy your civil rights;
- be in good physical condition, compatible with the duties of a scout lieutenant;
- have held a hunting license for at least 5 years;
- demonstrate good hunting skills;
- maintain, at its own expense, either a minimum of 4 hounds in the wild boar or fox route, or at least two digging dogs.
Candidates must demonstrate their ability to exercise the mandate of lieutenant of louveterie with objectivity, independence and discernment.
Expected skills
The louveterie lieutenant puts his hunting knowledge, his time and his resources at the disposal of the administration of which he is the technical advisor. Candidates must therefore demonstrate their very good knowledge of hunting regulations and hunting issues.
The louveterie lieutenant is likely to intervene urgently in the field when the situation requires it. It is he who ensures the organization and technical responsibility for the implementation of measures to regulate populations of wild fauna species, in particular administrative searches ordered by the Prefect. Candidates must therefore demonstrate their availability and ability to carry out the missions that could be entrusted to them.
When called upon, the scout lieutenant must be able to intervene quickly with efficiency, tact and rigor. He is bound throughout his mandate and in all circumstances to the duty of confidentiality.

The application file must endeavor to demonstrate that the candidate meets the appointment conditions and has the expected skills.
This file must include the following documents (any incomplete application file will be rejected):
- a cover letter justifying in particular the candidate's abilities (physical capacity, hunting skills, knowledge of hunting regulations and safety rules) as well as his availability and the necessary means to be mobilized (vehicle, equipment, weapons, dog crew required currents, etc.);
- the application form and the certificate concerning dogs, to be downloaded below, duly completed*;
- a medical certificate dated less than 2 months ago, proving that your physical condition is compatible with the exercise of the function of lieutenant of the scout team;
- a photocopy of the national identity card;
- a photocopy of the voter card;
- a photocopy of the hunting license and its validation;
- a photocopy of the valid driving license;
- proof of address in the department of Haute-Corse or in a neighboring canton.
Recruitment will be carried out after examination of the files and individual interview held November 29, 2024. In particular, their hunting skills, their aptitude for action, command and negotiation, their availability, their ability to report and contribute to the conduct of technical meetings will be verified.
District boundaries
In each department, the Prefect determines the boundaries of the constituencies of the lieutenants of louveterie.

Candidates must specify the constituency to which they are applying: 6th or 9th district.
