Beaune, June 24, 2024 – The young footballers from US St Sernin proudly represented their club during the last outing of the season at the Ibanez Challenge, which took place on the magnificent facilities of the Beaune club. Facing teams from the Côte d’Or such as Meursault, Fontaine-lès-Dijon, Gevrey-Chambertin and Beaune, our young players had a remarkable performance in the group stage, with 4 victories and only one defeat.
In the quarter-finals, our U9s faced AS Beaune, the host club. Thanks to a serious match, the young purples took this step with a convincing 2-0 victory. In the semi-final, they faced the favorite team of the tournament, Fontaine-lès-Dijon, who had performed flawlessly in the group with an avalanche of goals (12-0, 7-0, etc.). Despite the more robust appearance and experience of their opponents, Lucas’ teammates (our goalkeeper) competed valiantly and only conceded a minimal 1-0 defeat.
Finally, during the match for 3rd and 4th place, they faced the local club Meursault and won with a score of 2-1, thanks to a match full of desire and combativeness.
Congratulations to Lucas, Léo, Marius, Martin, Sohan, Louka and Nathan for having worthily represented the USSS and defended its colors brilliantly!
U11 Tournament in Gueugnon: A Successful End of the Season
The U11 tournament in Gueugnon was a real challenge for our young players. Despite a difficult group stage against talented teams, our children showed great determination. After the meal, they regained momentum and continued with four consecutive victories. Their performance earned them an honorable 9th place out of 20 in this tough tournament.
Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side. The weather conditions were not always favorable, but that did not dampen the good mood of our players. This tournament concluded a successful season in the best way possible.
