Since 2010, MBA has chosen to work alongside the Ligue contre le cancer by donating €2 per tonne of glass collected. This partnership was extended in 2023 to all voluntary drop-off points set up in the community’s 39 municipalities. Last year, 3,200 tonnes of glass were collected.

To support medical research

Gilles Jondet expressed his satisfaction: “There are developments, widespread awareness that since the introduction of selective sorting, the quantities of household waste have decreased.” He hoped that this development would also be reflected in glass sorting. Indeed, although it was introduced around fifty years ago, a significant quantity of glass is still found in trash cans.

Dr. Sauzedde detailed the use of this money by recalling the main missions of the League. First, it finances medical research to the tune of 41 million euros at the national level. Then, it supports patients by offering socio-aesthetic care, psychology consultations, sophrology, dietetics and adapted gymnastics. Another of its missions is to provide financial assistance to families socially and economically destabilized by cancer.

24 classes made aware

Finally, it plays a crucial role in the field of prevention, particularly of breast and colorectal cancer through initiatives, during Pink October and in schools. Doctor Laurent Grimault specified that 24 classes were made aware this year.
