Montpellier residents are heading in large numbers to the police stations to make their proxy less than a week before the legislative elections.
Thousands of people (at least 4,000) went last week to Montpellier police stations to provide their proxy for the legislative elections, the first round of which is scheduled for the last weekend of June. That of Comedy did not escape the influx.
This is the case of Julian Prévost, 23, for whom the power of attorney was not an option but an obvious choice. “I have never abstained, voting for me is above all a duty.” Same story with Noémie Sublin, also a student of the same age. “These elections are too important for me not to vote”relates the native of Normandy.
More than a million proxies in France
For people unable to go to their polling station on election day, it is always possible to give proxy to a voter in Montpellier, often a person from the family circle. In France, no less than a million proxies have been made since the announcement of the holding of early legislative elections, on Sundays June 30 and July 7.
For most, it was the late announcement of these early elections that posed a problem. “I have a wedding planned, I can’t miss it”, recounts a young woman who confides that she was the only one in her family to travel to the last European elections. While for others, it will be a first. “Usually, I don’t go to vote. But this time, I want to use my voice to express my disagreement”proclaims another woman in front of the Comédie police station.
How to make a power of attorney in Montpellier?
