2024 Legislative Elections – Results. Montpellier votes massively to the left and completely against the grain of neighboring cities in the first round

Montpellier, a historically left-wing city, once again escapes the tidal wave of the National Rally. It places the candidates invested by the New Popular Front in the lead. In all constituencies, this Montpellier and urban vote is in total discord with the other cities.

Montpellier resisted the navy blue wave. The city led by the socialist Michaël Delafosse voted against the national and regional vote, not placing the left in the lead in the first round of these legislative elections. Voters voted massively for the candidates invested by the New Popular Front in the Montpellier polling stations.

In the first constituency in Montpellier, it is Jean-Louis Roumégas, the Ecologists candidate invested by the New Popular Front who comes out on top with 13,107 votes (47.67%), far ahead of Josyan Oliva for the union of the right RN-Eric Ciotti who obtains 6750 or 24.54%. Patricia Mirallès, the outgoing deputy invested by the majority is credited with 19.22. She obtained 5288 votes.

In the entire constituency – that is to say with part of Montpellier, but also Villeneuve-les-maguelone, Palavas-les-Flots… – only 40 votes separate the first two candidates. The RN is in the lead ahead of the candidate of the left. Patricia Mirallès, elected in 2022 before becoming Secretary of State, is in 3rd position.

It was also in Montpellier that the left-wing candidate Nathalie Oziol (La France Insoumise) was re-elected in the first round, running in the 2nd constituency. This is the only 100% Montpellier constituency, all the polling stations are located in Montpellier.

Nathalie Oziol receives 58.2% of the votes (24,707 votes) ahead of Robert Le Stum, the candidate of the presidential majority, who obtained 17% of the votes (7,230 votes). He is only 28 votes ahead of Flavia Mangano, the RN candidate who is in 3rd place. There will therefore be no second round in the 2nd constituency of Hérault.

Still in Montpellier, in the 3rd constituency this time, Fanny Dombre-Coste, 1st deputy mayor of the city, candidate of the New Popular Front, came out on top in the vote for this first round of these early legislative elections. She received 4,236 votes (57.62%) ahead of Laurence Cristol (1,612), outgoing candidate of the presidential majority and the RN candidate Laurence Toise 15.28% (1,123 votes).

Across the entire constituency – which also includes Castelnau-le-Lez, Le Crès and Castries – the three candidates are neck and neck. Fanny Dombre-Coste is in the lead (33.9%), closely followed by Laurence Toise of the RN (32.3%) and Laurence Cristol of Renaissance (29.1%).

In the 8th constituency, Sylvain Carrière (outgoing LFI MP) of the New Popular Front obtained 52.09% of the votes, or 6,867 votes. He came in first place in the Montpellier polling stations ahead of Cédric Delapierre, the RN candidate who obtained 2,630 votes, or 19.95% of the votes cast. Isabelle Autier (Ensemble) came in 3rd place with 16.87% of the votes: 2,224 votes cast.

This constituency also includes the communes from Grabels to Frontignan. And surprise, in the entire constituency, Sylvain Carrière is in an unfavorable ballot. He obtained 32.7% of the votes against the RN candidate Cédric Delapierre at 40.1%.

In the 9th constituency of Hérault, Montpellier voters placed Nadia Belaouni, LFI candidate, invested by the New Popular Front, in the lead. She received 7,957 votes, or 48.31% of the votes. She placed far ahead of the outgoing deputy Patrick Vignal (Ensemble) of the presidential majority who obtained 3,842 votes, or 23.33% of the votes cast, ahead of Charles Alloncle candidate (LR) invested by the RN alliance and Eric Ciotti who obtained 3,401 votes (20.65%).

For the entire constituency, Charles Alloncle finished in the lead with 36.43%, ahead of Nadia Belaouni (29.27%) and Patrick Vignal (25%), in a position to maintain his position. The constituency runs from Lunel to Montpellier, passing through La Grande-Motte.
