Épinay-sur-Seine: a man dies after being struck down by a fleeing motorist

A shock of incredible violence, throwing the pedestrian more than 15 meters. This is the terrible accident which occurred during the night from Saturday to Sunday in Épinay-sur-Seine. A resident of the city, aged around 40, was mowed down by a motorist. He had to be transported in absolute emergency to the Henri-Mondor hospital in Créteil (Val-de-). His vital prognosis was then in jeopardy. This Sunday noon, according to a source close to the investigation, the victim died.

The driver did not stop after the collision. And this Sunday noon, the police were still on his trail. The accident occurred around 3 a.m., near avenue de Lattre-de-Tassigny. This artery, one of the main ones in Épinay-sur-Seine, runs parallel to the Seine and corresponds to the old Nationale 14. The collision occurs near the Joffre – de Lattre de Tassigny bus stop. Under what exact circumstances? We ignore it for the moment.

According to the first elements collected by the police on site, the victim was walking on the road outside a pedestrian crossing. Did the motorist have time to see it? It is possible that this is not the case because no traces of braking would have been noted on the road.

The firefighters quickly took care of the forty-year-old, who was then in cardio-respiratory arrest. The rescuers managed to restart his heart. The victim, suffering from multiple trauma, was taken to hospital where he died.

The public prosecutor's office opened an investigation to find the fleeing motorist and determine the circumstances in which he hit the pedestrian. The investigations were entrusted to the Épinay-sur-Seine police station.
