The hummingbird and the stork spread their wings in Fribourg. La Cigogne is the name of a games bar located on rue d’Or, a stone’s throw from the Berne Bridge, in the Old Town. This is where the players of The Emerald of the Hummingbird meet, in principle, on Fridays, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., among shelves filled with board games. The Hummingbird Emerald? A Friborg treasure hunt, launched a month ago, based on the model of the Chouette d’or, in France. Designed by the Enigmadventure association, it comes with a prize of 18,000 francs: a pendant, including an emerald, made by Xavier Goedecke, jeweler in Fribourg.
But let’s return to the La Cigogne games bar, to gauge the enthusiasm of the “hummingbirds”. Maël Ludwig, 24 years old, from Friborg and Jonathan Pessentiel, 29 years old, from Châtonnaye, admit to liking puzzles. While Laura Eracle, 25, a Valais resident living in Fribourg, highlights the heritage to discover: “Since I took part in this game, I have never visited the churches of Friborg so much.” Michaël Da Silva, 28, another resident of the cantonal capital, adds: “This game is more of an excuse to discover the corners of the city that I had never visited.”
