When sweetness plays overtime. Good weather, sun and blue skies, this is the cocktail for the end of the All Saints' Day holiday in the South West. Since Thursday and until Sunday, the thermometer displays 22 degrees in Gironde. And on the Médoc coast, in the heart of “Little French California“, the Porge Océan offers All Saints holidaymakers a natural beach of fine sand, golden dunes and superb waves (to be tamed in a wetsuit all the same). It floats there like an Indian summer scent for French tourists and foreigners, as well as local regulars.
A rusk in one hand, a small knife in the other. Clément sticks to his definition of happiness. “I make myself a little slice of salted butter. We are at Porge, at the campsite, with family and there we prepare breakfast“, explains this teacher who does not come from Brittany but from Savoie with his partner, childminder, and their children Titouan and Malo. “We made friends.”says the eldest.
Friends like in the van next door registered in Germany. “Good morning“, says Stefan and Christine. “It's great to have this beautiful weather without too many people, we love the beach, the gentle way of life in the area. We’re really having a good time!”
An unexpected end to the season for the municipal campsite of La Grigne du Porge Océan. At reception, Maud welcomes vacationers in witch costume, “Halloween oblige”. “We must admit that the month of October was a little more lenient than September. And there, until this very morning, we have a reservation for an arrival tomorrow for a night camping for a motorhome. And this weekend -end, we have several cottages which were reserved a few days ago, so the All Saints' Day holidays and the good weather are a good cocktail.” The campsite closes its doors this Sunday because, as Titouan recalls without smiling, “Back to school is Monday!”
