It’s hard not to know Marionnaud. A major retailer of beauty products, the French brand is today one of the main competitors of the giant Sephora. With its 700 international points of sale and 400 boutiques in France, the brand has conquered the beauty sector. Founded by Bernard Marionnaud in 1958, the retailer today offers no fewer than 228 brands, including 40 exclusively. After years of success with French customers, Marionnaud, which is already celebrating its 40th anniversary, was awarded the prize for best store chain of the year 2024. To retain its most loyal customers and attract new ones , the brand recently reviewed its method of operation. It is now possible to refill perfume bottles and drop off empty products in store for a voucher.
Despite the many advantages, some Internet users are not convinced by these commercial gestures. Indeed, many consider the brand far too expensive and unfair regarding the price of their products, even going so far as to accuse Marionnaud of inflating prices to make a small margin. On the “Isn't that a bit of a scam?”, “The top scam is Marionnaud who offers good deals regularly aligned with the usual prices of competitors”. Although this is a most unpleasant fact, the increase in prices among dealers is, at the moment, not illegal in itself. A real misstep for the brand which sees some of its customers heading towards the competition: “The prices at Marionnaud?? lol we will continue to shop at Nocibé and Sephora”.
“I will no longer order from you”
In addition to the increase in sales prices, another problem tarnishes Marionnaud's reputation. In fact, each brand has a partnership with a carrier service to ensure the delivery of orders placed online. In the case of Marionnaud, the French brand has joined forces with the giant Chronopost, which does not seem to delight its customers either… Many denounce delivery problems, the loss of their packages, even going so far as to denounce flights. Despite the numerous complaints to customer service, the reseller does not seem to react, which causes annoyance among Internet users: “@Chronopost you are a terrible service, I myself have a delivery whose status has been unchanged since December 39 … your after-sales service is worse than anything and your delivery people are liars @Marionnaud_Fr I will no longer order from you as long as you use Chronopost.
In addition to delivery concerns, there is customer service, which also seems to leave something to be desired. Some customers then tried everything on social networks, without success. Still on platform no better than @ChronopostSAV… in short, incompetence combines to the great misfortune of your customers! Shame on you! Despite these numerous complaints, Marionnaud has not yet commented on the subject.
