On October 4, 2023, at 1 p.m., in Mortain-Bocage (Manche), a woman is busy on a ladder sanding the front of a store. A man, sitting on a low wall, a beer in his hand, calls him ribald terms. As she does not respond, he becomes more and more obscene and threatening in his remarks. The sander ends up getting off her ladder to apologize, but the man violently pushes her, causing her to fall. She will recover with a broken wrist requiring 45 days of temporary total incapacity for work (ITT).

The defendant was absent

Aged 48, the Mortainais man was summoned, Tuesday June 11, 2024, before the Coutances criminal court to answer for drunken violence, but he did not appear. At the time of the events, he had a level of 1.06 g of alcohol per liter of blood, after having drunk several beers in the morning and half a liter of red wine with lunch.

The forty-year-old was sentenced to five months in prison, including two months in prison, as well as two months of suspended sentence revoked, for a total of four months in prison. He is also subject, for two years, to compulsory alcohol treatment and a ban on frequenting drinking establishments. The court will rule on civil interests on January 21, 2025.
