When it took office, the Council of State hoped to initiate a new dynamic, forget the crises which marked the previous legislature and provide an orientation serving the general interest. A year later, it is still early to draw a solid assessment, but we cannot say that there is peace of mind.

Obviously, this all-fire Grand Council, with a strengthened populist bloc determined to “have fun” in the words of the UDC Yves Nidegger, does not make his task easy. An illustration of the fragility of the coalition which allowed the right to take back the reins of the executive. And even the two PLR magistrates, Nathalie Fontanet and Anne Hiltpold, rub shoulders with their own group, as during the budget.
