With the mercury rising these days in southern Quebec, where can we cool off? While waiting for the swimming pools to open, water games are the best solution.
In Montreal, unless otherwise notified due to repairs, the few dozen water games scattered throughout the city’s parks are already open to the public every day between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Among the outdoor swimming pools, only that of the Jean-Drapeau aquatic complex has started its season. However, it is only open on weekends for the moment, until the week of June 24.
Also on Sainte-Hélène Island, Jean-Doré beach will only open its doors to bathers on June 22. The Verdun urban beach will be accessible on June 15.
Public pools, like the popular pools at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park and Jarry Park, will mostly open on June 22.
In Laval, only five water games are open to the public for the moment, in the Sainte-Rose, Chomedey and Vimont districts. Outdoor pools will open between June 15 and June 20.
In Longueuil, the municipality’s nine water games are also open.
In Quebec, water games have been open since May 18, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., as soon as the temperature reaches 18°C.
In the greater Montreal area, the mercury is expected to exceed 30°C during the day until Wednesday, according to Environment Canada forecasts. On Thursday, the passage of a precipitation system will bring temperatures back to seasonal norms.
