Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Caen opens its doors to Olympic delegations

We are one month away from the start one of the greatest sporting events in history. The 2024 Olympic Games will be in France and Caen will indeed be a major player.
After hosting the Olympic Flame relay on May 30, Caen will be honored with the presence of several Olympic delegations in his city.

Three countries and maybe more

The countdown is on and, to best prepare their entry into the Olympic Gamesathletes from all over the world will be dispatched throughout France to training centers.
Caen has been selected to host several country delegations, including China, Canada and the Olympic refugee delegation. For China, these are the volleyball players who are expected at the Palais des Sports from July 16.

At the same time, the Canadian swimming delegation will set down its suitcases on Normandy soil, from July 13. A few days later, in mid-July, it was the Refugee Olympic team rowing and canoeing which will take place in Caen.

There was a possibility that the city could also host the Dominican delegation. The latter will finally go to Deauville. Concerning the Paralympic Games, there is a chance that Caen will host the Colombian delegation, but nothing is certain yet. According to Aristide Olivier, the deputy mayor of Caen, “they came for a visit and seemed rather satisfied”.

Open to the public ?

Welcoming Olympic delegations to your home is no small feat. So, one might wonder whether training sessions and other activities will be open to the public. This is in any case the will from Aristide Olivier and the town hall sports department:

If for swimming, it would be done to open the doors of the nautical stadium to the people of Caen, it would be a more complicated task to obtain the agreement of the Chinese delegation.
