1991: PSG-MARSEILLE – France Bleu

This evening Thierry Boeuf looks back on the PSG-MARSEILLE match of April 1991 and Bernard Tapie’s laudatory remarks about Francis Borelli.

It was a time in April 1991 when OM dominated French football, with PSG, 33 years later, we have largely reversed the trend even if Marseille are still holding the house, next Thursday, semi-final against Atalanta de Bergamo in the Europa League while Paris plays, as you know, the first leg of the semi-final of the major Champions League on Wednesday. So a look back at Marseille’s supremacy when OM beat the Parisians in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France 2 to 0. Interesting to listen to this archive with Bernard Tapie, president of OM, very friendly with the president of Paris Saint -Germain, Francis Borelli.

And Bernard Tapie was right, for once, to play modest, OM will be beaten in the final of the European Cup by Red Star Belgrade, also beaten in the final of the Coupe de France against Monaco, Marseille which finished first in the 90/91 French championship while Paris Saint-Germain languished in 9th place.
