Eric Braeden, very affected by the disappearance of his friend, published a beautiful tribute to Meg Bennett on his social networks. “My first “wife” Julia, played by my friend Meg Bennett, died. She succumbed to the ravages of cancer. I hadn’t seen Meg much in recent years, except for my 40th birthday. She was such a bright and sweet woman! I remember that she taught me the history of soap operas and introduced them to their actors. She was very intelligent and Bill Bell had her write it for him. It was a pleasure to be by her side and to have conversations with her, always very informed. I remember his contagious smile and his gentleness. She was a beautiful woman. May you rest in peace, dear Meg. Best regards Eric“, he wrote, adding a red heart to his signature.

In March 2023, the actor, who has just celebrated his 83rd birthday, announced that he was suffering from prostate cancer. After an operation and immunotherapy treatment lasting several weeks, he then reassured his fans last August. “I no longer have cancer. They found nothing”he wrote on social networks.

A career as an actress and screenwriter

Meg Bennett was therefore not only an actress but also a screenwriter. As Eric Braeden wrote, she worked for Bill Bell, the creator of Flames of love and D’Love glory and beauty. She therefore wrote scenarios for the two series but also for other fictions such as Santa Barbara, General Hospital or Sunset Beach.

Born October 4, 1948, she grew up in Pasadena and competed for Miss America. She had a career as a model for a time before moving to New York to study acting. She took her first steps on the stage of Broadway in the musical Grease. She was married to the writer and co-creator of the series Sunset Beach Robert Guza Jr for 19 years.
