monumental works all over town on the theme of trees

What does the Journey to Nantes have in store for us for the thirteenth summer edition? This Tuesday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. the press was invited to a meeting in the presence of Fabrice Roussel, president of Voyage à Nantes, Jean Blaise, general director of Voyage à Nantes and Johanna Rolland, mayor of Nantes and president of Nantes Métropole. We will share information with you throughout the conference.

Trip to Nantes: dates, theme?

The 13th edition of Voyage à Nantes which will be held from July 6 to September 8, 2024. This year, the theme chosen is the tree. We want to tell the story of the ecological bifurcation of the city through culture

What works for this new edition?

▶Two trams will be decorated by artists Florentine and Alexandre Lamarche-Ovize. Emblematic buildings of the city will be inhabited by a farandole of animals.

▶Four new Wallace fountains will be added for the Voyage à Nantes 2024. The existing Wallace fountains will be restored.

▶The Bouteillerie cemetery and the Town Hall will host a work by Aurélie Ferruel and Florentine Guédon: stone and glass sculptures representing gleaners.

▶Fabrice Hyber, an artist already known to the people of Nantes, will present a permanent totemic work in the Jardin des Plantes. Made of wood, with a height of more than 6 meters, it will spit water to irrigate a pond.

▶Two bathers will be installed in the shower baths. This bronze work will be signed Claire Tabouret.

▶The artist Séverine Hubard will install a silhouette of a twisted bell tower on the Miroir d’eau pine tree. The work will be carried out by a specialized company working on the restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

▶The pine tree in front of the Château will have a giant hand carved from a redwood by the artist Max Coulon.

▶Place Royale, Jean-François Fourtou will present an astonishing character in pajamas 5 meters high. It will house a real palm tree, which will then be replanted in the extraordinary garden in lower Chantenay.

▶The Cantine’s vegetable garden will be completely renewed, on the island of Nantes. It will open to walkers. You will find peas, Chantenay carrots, Blonde de Doulon (lettuce)…

▶Square Schwob, artist Yushin U Chang works on a pine tree, projecting the size it would be in 2252.

▶Cours Cambronne, an incredible structure will allow you to smell the Magnolia flowers.

▶The courtyard of the Hôtel de Briord will welcome a family of hybrids in Belle Epoque costume, designed by Jean-François Fourtou.

▶Le Voyage à Nantes takes place in the garden of a senior residence on rue Gambetta. Sébastien Gouju is working on monkeys that will cling to ironworks.

La Cantine du Voyage in Nantes has been open since April 18, 2024.

The exhibition at the Hab Galerie with the artist Caroline Mesquita. It transforms the space into a metal landscape composed of numerous surprise metallic hybrids.

NEXT Valady. Jean Couet-Guichot and Gaya Wisniewski, two artists in residence within the region
