Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan was not present during the band’s concert at the Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, May 19. The surprise absence was due to a dental emergency, as frontman Corey Taylor revealed during the concert.

After several songs, Taylor addresses the crowd, explaining that Clown broke a tooth the day before and had to have it removed, necessitating his absence for medical reasons. Despite his condition, Clown urged the group to put on the show. Taylor conveyed Clown’s feelings to the audience by stating: “He insisted we come play this fucking concert for all of you!”

Taylor went on to pay a warm tribute to his bandmate, emphasizing Clown’s importance to the group. “We miss him. He’s essential, and damn, on three, I want you to tell him he’s fucking loved. I want to hear you scream! A ! Two ! Three !” The crowd responds with a loud, supportive cheer, showing their love for the absent member.

For those interested in seeing Slipknot in concert, the band will be returning to Europe and the UK later this year.
