The Avignon narcotics squad carried out a large-scale raid in Domazan, in the Gard region near Avignon, on the night of Sunday 15 to Monday 16 September. Drugs and vehicles were seized and five people were arrested.
A ton of cannabis, four kilos of cocaine and vehicles were seized during the night from Sunday to Monday near Avignon, for a market value of nine million euros, the police announced on Tuesday, September 17.
The Avignon drug squad and customs have been investigating for several months “on a network of traffickers (…) who imported drugs from the south of Spain to Vaucluse”the Avignon police said in a statement.
Operation carried out in Domazan
The operation was carried out in the commune of Domazan (Gard), around fifteen kilometres from Avignon, and mobilised 30 police officers. Five “highly organized Vaucluse drug traffickers” were arrested and are still in police custody in Avignon, the same source said.
In addition to the drugs, a heavy goods vehicle and eight cars were also seized.
