Dakar, 18 Sept (APS) – Military zone No. 1, covering the Dakar region, collected 140 bags of blood on Wednesday for the benefit of the National Blood Transfusion Center, we learned from the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces (DIRPA).

”Blood donation by the military of Military Zone No. 1. The national blood transfusion center collected 140 bags of blood on September 18, 2024”, indicates the DIRPA on its X account.

She specifies that the donors are from the Artillery Battalion, the Non-Commissioned Battalion and the Directorate of the Army Materials Service.

According to the same source, “the Armed Forces intend to carry out this activity regularly” to “respond to the strong national demand in this area”.

The National Blood Transfusion Center (CNTS) launched an appeal for blood donations on Monday.

“CNTS blood reserves are low. Every minute counts. Starting tomorrow at 8am, meet at the CNTS for a procedure that only takes a few minutes but can offer years of life. Share this precious liquid with those who need it,” the message said.
