1682. The church of Russan built in Saint-Anastasia (Gard) in 1682 knew everything in 342 yearsShe has had many misadventures and has now been selected for the programme to rescue endangered heritage initiated by the Fondation du Patrimoine.


Flooded

Built more than 3 centuries ago, the site was part of the landscape for many people from . But since the historical floods From September 2002, the place was damaged. At the time, the water had exceeded 3 meters in height inside.

Since this episode, the church has no longer been open to the public, with the exception of Heritage Days and the temporary installation of a Christmas crib.

Inexorably, year after year, the building has deteriorated.

On September 2, the decision of the Heritage Foundation to include the Gard church among the places to be saved from imminent danger was very well received by local elected officials.

Questioned by our colleagues from Bleu Gard Lozèrethe mayor of Sainte-Anastasie, Gilles Tixador, assured that “as a priority, the drainage networks around the building, the roof And the walls» had to be redone without delay.

According to the first figures released, the work could begin in the first weeks of 2025 and be completed at the end of 2027 . More than 15,000 eurosare expected in the coming weeks to finance this project. The cost of the complete restoration of the place of worship is around 1.4 million euros.
