Anti-WEF demonstrators pushed off the road in front of Davos

The police evacuated hundreds of anti-WEF demonstrators who were blocking the road in front of Davos (GR) on Sunday afternoon. Long traffic jams formed, with more than an hour of waiting.

On two occasions, the police asked the strikers to leave the road, each time giving them a ten-minute delay, a spokeswoman for the Graubünden cantonal police told Keystone-ATS. But the demonstrators ignored the announcements. The authorities then intervened with a special mesh vehicle.

The blocking of the road caused a major traffic jam. The cars lined up downstream from Davos-Laret to the junction of the Vereina car loading station. On the other side, vehicles were blocked up to the middle of Lake Davos.
