Spiritbox singer Courtney LaPlante recently shared her five favorite albums in an interview for Spin. Among them is Loathe’s iconic album, I Let It In And It Took Everything. At the same time, Spiritbox launched a charity raffle to support victims of the recent fires in California, including their bassist Josh Gilbert, who lost his home.
A tribute to Loathe and their musical impact
Courtney LaPlante and designated I Let It In And It Took Everything as the metal album she listened to the most in her life. She explained: “They’re indescribable, but you could say it’s like Deftones and Meshuggah had a child. There is so much sadness, anger and sometimes tenderness, while still remaining lyrically vulnerable. This album instantly resonated with me and became a classic. So much musicality, but with restraint.”
Released in 2020, this Loathe album marked a turning point in the genre, blending Metal, shoegaze and progressive influences to create a unique sonic experience.
