What happens to Jake Angeli, the rioter better known as the “QAnon shaman”?

A key figure in the assault on the Capitol, which occurred four years ago on January 6, 2021, “QAnon Shaman” Jake Angeli has seen his popularity remain high over the years, despite his conviction.

He was the symbol of one of the greatest political events in modern American history. Fur headdress, mink horns, Nordic tattoos… Jake Angeli marked the entire world during the assault on the Capitol, which occurred on January 6, 2021, a few hours before the certification of the results of the 2020 presidential election, confirming the victory of Joe Biden.

Four years later, a few hours before the certification of Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election, the man nicknamed “the shaman of the Capitol” is only waiting for one thing: a presidential pardon.

Sentenced to three and a half years in prison notably for “obstructing an official proceeding before Congress”, Jake Angeli was finally placed on parole in May 2023, according to indications from the Department of Justice.

A glory always acquired among conspiracy theorists

“I would hope that he and his administration would see that I was a non-violent offender… Probably the most visible or well-known non-violent offender to the public. (…) So when he talks about pardoning all the non-violent defendants of January 6, I should be part of this group,” he declared to our colleagues at Radio , confirming his support for Donald Trump although he was not allowed to vote last November due to his conviction.

Physically free, the man from Phoenix (Arizona) was able to take advantage of his “warrior” image among conspiracy circles.

He now makes a living from the sale of derivative objects bearing his image, offering his services as a speaker at conferences, but also online courses to “increase one's IQ, expand one's consciousness and improve one's personal development”.

Although he was able to gain some public interest in his image, it was not enough for him to represent the Libertarian Party in the elections for the 8th congressional district of the State of Arizona in 2024.
