The Véo cinema is hosting this Saturday, January 4 at 6:20 p.m. the preview of “Planet B”in the presence of director Aude Léa Rapin and producer Ève Robin. This second feature film by the director recently won the Silver Wings at the 12th Muret International Film Festival. Aude Léa Rapin, motivated by the desire to create French science fiction, explains: “In Europe, few sci-fi films are produced because of costs and American competition. However, we took up this challenge with Ève Robin , producer at Les films du bal. This genre allows us to explore current crises and fears by imagining the future. “Planet B” projects the viewer into 2039, in a society where freedom has been sacrificed for security, with activists locked in a virtual prison. The film is distinguished by its feminine approach to science fiction: “This genre is often male and white. With “Planet B”we wanted to deconstruct these codes by highlighting two strong women, played by Adèle Exarchopoulos and Souheila Yacoub,” specifies the director.
The feature film traveled to numerous festivals in France and abroad, receiving notable accolades including the Prix des Jeunes at the Sarlat Festival and a Women’s Favorite Award at the Arras Festival. “We discovered another film-loving planet with genre film festivals, particularly in Spain and the United States,” confides the director. Aude Léa Rapin is delighted to be present at Muret: “The Véo cinema has an incredible reception, and supporting this industry is essential.
This film was a very strong human and professional adventure.” Asked about her future projects, the director talks about her desire to continue in genre cinema and writing novels. For her, “Planet B” marks the opening of a door to new creative explorations.
