Notice to skiers and other mountain enthusiasts: be attentive. This is the message from Météo France in its alert of Monday January 6, 2025, concerning part of the Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence massifs. Around ten massifs and valleys are placed on avalanche yellow alert.
These are: Dévoluy, Champsaur, Oisans, Thabor, Pelvoux, Queyras, Embrunais Parpaillon, Ubaye, and Haut-Var Haut-Verdon.
In the Ubaye valley and Haut-Verdon, an episode of snow and rain is expected depending on the altitude. In these massifs, the alert reaches a level 3 out of 5, recalls the prefect of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence on the social network X.
He recommends not skiing or off-piste hiking.
