the essential
From Miss Pays d’Olmes to referee on TF1, Virginie Guillin multiplies her experiences.

“Virginie is adorable. We had a wonderful ten days.” Cédric Marchat, one of the referees of the Gladiators show on TF1, was able to talk about Ariège with Virginie Guillin. The young woman, elected Miss Pays d’Olmes in 2016 in Lavelanet (then Miss Midi-Pyrénées subsequently), is in fact one of the two female referees selected to participate in Gladiators.

After multiple adventures (model, actress, etc.), the 31-year-old young woman, a journalist by profession, adds a new string to her bow. “I have been spotted on social networks, particularly on my TikTok account where I share videos on football refereeing with my subscribers. I indeed referee at the regional level, in R1 and R2 for boys and in women’s D3 I think that the production appreciated my “Miss” side but also the fact that I really refereed on the field, the three referees were also real referees. I think that TF1 wanted to provide this. of the credibility because you don’t improvise as a referee. It’s a demanding job, often, unfortunately, very criticized.”

“She really changed my daily life as a referee”

For Virginie too, despite her multiple experiences, Gladiators was an enriching adventure. “She really changed my daily life as a referee. There was also this glitter side and, as a former Miss, I love that (laughs). I met some great people.

I had the opportunity to see Jean-Pierre Foucault again and to work with passionate people: the caster, the producer, the cameramen, the editors, the decorators. I’m proud to see women on television in refereeing roles. I aspire to change mentalities and show that it is possible to embark on different professions. The main thing is to remain sincere and authentic. It’s just happiness.”
