After leaving “NCIS” three years ago, Mark Harmon will make his comeback in front of the camera and will reprise his role in a cult comedy from 2003…

Since leaving NCIS in 2021, Mark Harmon has kept a low profile, remaining behind the camera as a producer on the show that made him famous and soon to be narrator of its highly anticipated spin-off (and prequel), NCIS: Origins. However, the actor has decided to return in front of the camera for a very special project and for a role he has already played in the past…

If we say partner and then husband of Jamie Lee Curtis and stepfather of Lindsay Lohan, does that ring a bell? We’re talking about Freaky Friday in my mother’s shoes, of course! And yes, Mark Harmon will once again play the adorable Ryan in the sequel to the cult comedy of the 2000s announced a little while ago. With the returns of the two main actresses and now that of Mark Harmonthe sequel looks rather promising!

This Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis has also posted a photo on Instagram, live from the filming of Freaky Friday 2 which has just started under the direction of director Nisha Ganatra, and the legendary actress wanted to talk about her husband on screen, Mark Harmon.

I love waking up on a BLACK FRIDAY [Freaky Friday, NDLR] having work, with people I love, for an audience that adores [ce travail]. My long-time friend and co-star, Mark Harmon, has a vintage Airstream that he has used for at least 30 years and my trailer is parked right next to his, and my reflection today is a reflection of past memories and future fun. The reminder of this exquisite moment in our creative life.

More Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan et Mark Harmon will not be the only ones to reprise their respective roles as Tess, Anna and Ryan: in fact, Chad Michael Murray (Jake), Christina Vidal (Maddie), Haley Hudson (Peg), Rosalind Chao (Pei-Pei), Lucille Soong ( Pei-Pei’s mother), Stephen Tobolowsky (Mr. Bates) will also be back!

The film will also welcome some newcomers like Julia Butters (Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (My First Times) and Sophia Hammons (The Absence of Eden).

As a reminder, in the original film by Mark Waters, Dr. Tess Coleman, a widow about to remarry, and her 15-year-old daughter, Anna, have real communication problems. One Thursday evening, their resentment explodes and two fortune cookies will complicate everything. The next morning, they swapped bodies. They will thus have to experience life from the other’s point of view and perhaps finally rediscover themselves. But Tess’s wedding is planned for the following Saturday, and they will have to quickly find a way to reintegrate their respective bodies…

Released on December 24, 2003 in France, the film attracted 681,487 spectators in our country and grossed nearly 161 million dollars worldwide, against a budget of 26 million: a real success that went well beyond the box office and established the comedy which has now become a cult classic.

Freaky Friday 2 is expected to be released in 2025. In the meantime, rediscover the first part, available to stream on Disney+.
