Everything we knew around Black Panther 3 Until yesterday, we knew nothing. Marvel Studios has never communicated about the film and, apart from the usual banner at the end of Wakanda Forevernothing since the release of the latter in 2022. And given the semi-failure at the box office of this second opus, already affected by the death of its main role and production problems, we could even legitimately doubt a third shutter.
It was without counting Denzel Washington.
Marvel films are on Disney+ >
The actor, currently starring in Gladiator 2was on the set of The Today Show to promote the film and the question was asked about the possible retirement of the 69-year-old actor. Without letting himself be discouraged, Denzel, always so classy, listed all the projects that were awaiting him soon, as if to prove that the time had not yet come. A film with his long-time partner Antoine Fuqua, another with Steve McQueen… and Black Panther 3 de Ryan Coogler!
In complete relaxation, the actor did not wait for the green light from Kevin Feige to drop the bomb whereas at Marvel, we like to control and plan everything. We suspect that internally, the news must not have gone down well with everyone. But what’s done is done, as they say.
Black Panther 3, what release date?
Without knowing the precise role of Denzel Washington in this third part, we know that he will have a leading role, undoubtedly alongside Letitia Wright (T’Challa’s son being still too young to wear the costume, but with the multiverse…). The information also allows us to learn that Ryan Coogler remains on camera and in the script of this Black Panther 3 since it is the filmmaker himself who would go and talk about the role with Denzel.
And if Kevin Feige is currently thinking about how to make it official in a rushed way, we can start thinking about the long term. First, since Washington has at least two films before Black Panther 3the latter will not be canned for a year or two, minimum. We also know that the Marvel calendar is closed until the release of Secret Wars in 2027 and that a few dates have been checked on the calendar in 2028, without us knowing the films. Which could be a good niche for Black Panther 3.
In the meantime, the universe of the Black Panther will be highlighted in the animated series Eyes of Wakandawhich will be released in August 2025 on Disney+.
