Comedian Nikki Glaser didn't hesitate to wink at rapper P. Diddy's legal woes during her monologue as host of the 82nd Golden Globes. A touch of humor far from having gone unnoticed across the Atlantic.
A shock wave. Comedian Nikki Glaser was widely applauded for her monologue in the introduction to the 82nd Golden Globes ceremony which was at once tender, funny and sometimes very spicy. The 40-year-old artist's joke where she refers to the P. Diddy affair and the famous parties he organized, however, left an impression.
It was when discussing the film “Challengers” with Zendaya that she made her first nod to the affair. “This film was more sexually charged than Diddy's credit card,” she said to a laughing audience. Sensing the mood was casual, she continued by pointing out that “the post-ceremony party won't be as fun this year…no more baby oil” (Around 3:30 in the Golden Globes video). A direct reference to the more than 1,000 bottles of lubricant and baby oil found during searches carried out by the authorities in one of the rapper's homes last March.
If Nikki Glaser's general performance was mainly praised by the specialized press and on social networks, this joke about P. Diddy upset some viewers, who did not appreciate the fact of joking about such a dark affair involving potential victims of sexual violence. Arrested on September 16, the rapper is currently in prison awaiting his trial for trafficking for the purposes of sexual exploitation, extortion and transporting people for the purposes of prostitution, which is due to be held in spring 2025 before a court federal.
