Oscar-winning American actor and producer, Michael Douglas will be the guest of honor at the 50th edition of the Deauville American Cinema Festival (Calvados), scheduled for September 6 to 15, 2024.

After Natalie Portman last year, Michael Douglas, famous for his roles in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” or “Wall Street,” was announced as guest of honor at the 50th edition of the Film Festival American from Deauville (Calvados) by the organization this Thursday, June 27, marking its 5th participation.

“Some relationships don’t cheat. The one that unites Michael Douglas with the Deauville Festival is obvious. As he so well recalled in September 2020, when the memory of his father Kirk, the last legend of the golden age of Hollywood who died a few months earlier, was celebrated in Deauville, the name “Douglas” had a profound impact the spirits of the Norman city,” explained the organizers.

“Everyone says that the Deauville Festival is special, but few people can say like me that it changed their lives,” declared the actor, who met his future wife, the actress Catherine Zeta. Jones, at the event in 1998.

Michael Douglas received an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 for his prolific career. Last April, the actor returned to the Côte d’Azur to present “Franklin”, a mini-series in which he plays the famous founding father of the United States.
