More than just a challenge, it is a true dream what has just been achieved Emmanuelle Garcia with the writing of its all first book entitled “When the moon lights up the dragonfly” released on September 26.

Nurse in operating room at Marmande hospital for more than 20 years, she disrupted his daily life to devote himself to his passion for writing. She will be in dedication morning at the Gang de la Clef à Molette bookseller on Saturday October 19, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A childhood dream

Emmanuelle Garcia has had this desire to write a novel since she was a child. “ When I was little I had a list of things to achieve in my life“, writing in a book was part of it” recalls the author, originally from Marmande, who keeps this project in the back of her mind, alongside her work as an operating room nurse. “We always find a thousand excuses, and I never allowed myself to do that. So I took part time and my partner pushed me to write.”

The meeting with the professional author Laetitia de Zelles will definitely convince Emmanuelle to follow her dream. Support, advice, corrections… the professional guides her through this brand new exercise.

« The hardest thing is to organize yourself when you have work, then life as a mother. You have to find the moment in addition to the emotions” confides the writer who has difficulty characterizing herself in this way but who nevertheless has all the instinct. “I had this need to write, to release my emotions. The question was either to keep this writing to myself or to make it public ».

Writing a book is like exposing yourself.

Without going through a publishing house, Emmanuelle discovered the world of self-publishing : “The advantage is the freedom to control everything, whether it is the cover, the title or the content. With a publishing house, my book would probably have been different.”

A novel of woman’s instinct

After 13 months of work in parallel with his professional and family life, the result is here with his novel now available online on Amazon, and in store at the Gang de la Clef à Molette bookstore as well as at the Leclerc cultural space. “This completely new exercise for me fulfilled me, I had a lot of fun” admits Emmanuelle, book in her hands.

And contemporary novelin which the reader is invited to follow the story of Lise, a young woman dented by the trials of life and haunted by a secret that she does not reveal. “Throughout the encounters, the heroine will little by little reveal herself to be stronger than she appears” reveals the writer.

A novel“woman’s instinct”but for all audiences through which Emmanuelle enjoys “living lives other than mine”. An exercise that the writer already wishes to repeat in the near future.
