Walk in the basement for Pink October

As part of the events in favor of Pink October, an annual communication campaign intended to raise awareness of breast cancer screening and to raise funds for research, the Ornel Sports and Leisure Union (Uslo) proposed, Wednesday October 9, a walk in an underground quarry in Perth in partnership with Cora Saint-Dizier, the Grand-Est Speleology League (Liges) and the Haute- Speleological Association (ASHM). The meeting was made in front of the Cora entrance, which also provided the electric batteries and the snack, for a group departure and carpooling of the participants to the entrance of the quarry where the guides of the ASHM was waiting for them to loan helmets equipped with LED lighting.

For its part, Liges has taken out and paid for the insurance coverage necessary for this type of underground event.

During the walk, which lasted approximately two hours, explanations were given by the Bragardian speleologists on the geological context of the quarries, the history of the different means of extraction, the period of cultivation of the mushroom and then on the formation process. natural underground cavities. The latter, cut during stone extraction, can reach 60 m depth; today they are the joy of speleologists.

This event allowed 22 people to discover the basement of Le Perthois in the company of Marie , president of Uslo, and six guides from the ASHM. The entire contribution of the walkers, amounting to €230, will be donated to the Haute-Marne Cancer League. In the opinion of all the participants, this activity in a completely unusual environment was very interesting, exotic and pleasant and it helped to strengthen social bonds. There is no doubt that this partnership has a bright future ahead of it!
