A man with few means attempted to rob a bank in Ontario, but while he was committing his crime, another criminal stole his bicycle with which he had traveled to the scene.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on December 18, according to a press release sent by Hamilton police on Monday.

The suspect first cycled to the BMO bank branch at 375 Upper Paradise Street in Hamilton.

The man was at the time dressed in a long, multi-colored scarf with black sunglasses and a surgical mask.

He entered the financial institution’s premises leaving his bicycle outside.

The suspect then approached a cashier to hand him a note demanding money. He also allegedly threatened the employee and told him he was armed.

The suspect, however, was confronted by other bank employees and forced to flee empty-handed.

But his misfortune did not end there.

Once outside the establishment, the offender noticed that his bicycle was no longer where he had left it.

“The man, dazed and confused, then kicked and fled north on Upper Paradise Street…on foot,” police reported in the news release.

The suspect was last seen at the intersection of Upper Paradise Street and Elmwood Avenue.

Hamilton police are still looking for the two perpetrators.
