For the first time in its history, the National Rally will be in the second round of the legislative elections in Martinique, thanks to its candidate in the fourth constituency, Grégory Roy-Larentry. He came in second place with 9.88% of the votes, far behind his future opponent Jean-Philippe Nilor, candidate of the New Popular Front.

A first. The provisional results of the legislative elections in Martinique have been released and for the first time in its history, the National Rally will be present in the second round on the island.

The RN candidate, Grégory Roy-Larentry, obtained 9.88% of the votes thanks to the 2,408 voters who voted for him in the fourth constituency.

This 32-year-old liberal nurse finished in second place, far behind the outgoing deputy of the New Popular Front, Jean-Philippe Nilor, who obtained more than 63% of the votes. He was unable to win in the first round since he did not cross the 25% mark of registered voters, in particular due to a low turnout (30.54%).

The figures, however, leave little doubt regarding the next deputy for the fourth constituency of Martinique at the end of the second round, next Sunday.

historic scores for the rn in martinique

For the National Rally, this result is already a victory since the party chaired by Jordan Bardella had never exceeded 5% in the fourth constituency of the island. The RN achieved its best scores since 2012 in this election. That year, the National Front (now RN, Editor’s note) presented its first candidates, who then achieved only anecdotal scores.

In the 1st, 2nd and 3rd constituencies, the RN achieved good scores, all above 9% but not enough to reach the second round. In the 2nd constituency of Martinique, the RN candidate, Juvénal Rémir, came in third place with 10.5% of the vote.

If the National Rally’s scores have never been so high, Martinique remains a largely left-wing island since all the candidates who came first in the first round of these legislative elections are under the banner of the New Popular Front.
