Pilgrims began flocking to Al Masjid Al Haram, the first holiest site of Islam, on Sunday to perform “Tawaf Al Ifadha” around the Holy Kaaba, on this first day of Eid Al Adha in Saudi Arabia. .

According to the Sunnah, the pilgrims had performed the Sobh prayer in Mina and as soon as the sun rose on the 9th of Dou Al-Hijja they left for Mount Arafat and its surroundings where they performed the shortened Adohr and Al Asr prayers. and grouped together with one Adan and two Iqama and remained there, until sunset, invoking the Almighty, imploring Him and asking Him for His forgiveness, mercy and protection.

Then, they surged towards Muzdalifah where they performed the shortened and grouped Maghrib and Al Isha prayers and spent the night there. In the early hours of this Sunday, they returned to Mina for the stoning of the great stele, the sacrifice and the cutting of hair.

They then headed towards Mecca where they performed Tawaf Al Ifadah around the Holy Kaaba and the walk between Safa and Marwa.

On Saturday, the Saudi General Authority for Statistics announced that the total number of pilgrims this season reached 1,833,164 people, including 1,611,310 from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia while the number of domestic pilgrims reached 221,854 pilgrims, citizens and residents.

The Authority also indicated that 22.3% of pilgrims come from Arab countries, while Asian countries constitute 63.3%. Pilgrims from African countries represent 11.3%, while 3.2% of pilgrims come from Europe, America, Australia and other countries.
