Montreal is one of the 50 most congested cities in the world in 2023, reveals a report produced by the firm INRIX.

Motorists who had to travel to the metropolitan area lost an average of 57 hours in traffic jams. The Quebec metropolis is more congested than Berlin, Sydney and Amsterdam, in particular.

However, this data represents an improvement of around 20% compared to 2022 data.

Across Canada, Montreal is the second most congested city behind Toronto, where people lose around 63 hours on the roads. Vancouver comes third with 49 hours.

New York still in the lead

Globally, New York has the worst traffic jams. Motorists lost around 101 hours in 2023, which represents a deterioration of 4% compared to 2022.

London follows with 99 hours. Paris arrives at the foot of the podium with 97 hours.
