Host Jordan De Luxe welcomed a former candidate from The Voice this Thursday, June 27 on the set of his show, broadcast on C8. This is the singer Kareen Antonn, who is releasing her new single, Look at me, this summer. His name was not unknown to the public before his time on TF1’s talent show. In fact, it was a great success. with star Bonnie Tyler.
The singer with the hoarse voice decided, twenty-one years ago, to cover her 80s hit Total Eclipse of The Heart, in a French version. It was Kareen Antonn, then aged 23, that she chose to accompany her on the title Si demain (Turn Around). This was a real success and remained at number one in the charts for 11 weeks. But the musical adventure between the two women did not stop there since they also shared the hit If it all stops (It’s a Heartache)which also met with great success.

Kareen Antonn “It was so unnatural to be there”
On the set of Jordan De Luxe, the singer looked back on her career, but also on her experience linked to The Voice. Indeed, it was ten years after her fame alongside Bonnie Tyler that Kareen Antonn decided to embark on this new challenge. In 2013, she was part of the cast of season 2 of TF1’s flagship talent show, hoping to relaunch her career. An experience which could have been invigorating, but which the singer had difficulty experiencing.

In fact, the singer explained to the host: “It was so horrible for me, it was so unnatural to be there and struggle to sing. It was so difficult,” she delivered before continuing : “I did it, at the time I wasn’t happy to go out because I didn’t deserve it, I didn’t fail in the battle”she declared, speaking in particular of the fact that she had to change register at this stage of the tele-hook, as the rules of the game dictate.
The singer was recognized by two coaches
The Jordan De Luxe guest also spoke about her stress during filming, and how difficult she was to manage it despite her fame and her experiences: “The pressure I had! I made myself sick every time to the point of being backstage and saying ‘I have to breathe’, I was scared, I’m not in the competition at all”, she delivered. The singer was surely able to count on The Voice teams to calm her down, because many candidates go through the same state before going on stage.

The singer also spoke of the general surprise at her participation, particularly among the coaches, two of whom recognized her immediately: “There was a real surprise, I think they were all surprised. Florent Pagny recognized me, Jenifer too, it was surprising,” she said before declaring that she would dream of being one of the coaches of the show: “It’s the ultimate thing for me,” she explains.
