It was an event not to be missed for cinema lovers, even if it meant a sleepless night. Canal+ broadcast live and exclusively on the night of Sunday January 5 to Monday January 6, 2025 the 82nd Golden Globe Awards ceremony, presented by American comedian Nikki Glaser.

Between two and five in the morning, many stars took to the stage of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles (California) to receive their trophies. An important prize list which often foreshadows what will happen at the Oscars two months later, and like last year, the French shone.

Audiard triumphs, Fargeat disappointed

In , after the triumph ofAnatomy of a fall by Justine Triet last year, who won two prizes, all eyes were on Emilia Perez by Jacques Audiard. The big favorite of this event with ten nominations, the musical filmed in Spanish obtained four trophies. The film received awards for Best International Film, Best Comedy or Musical, Best Supporting Actress (Zoe Saldana), and of course, Best Song, for the title The Evil. The other French drama in the race, The Substance by Coralie Fargeat, was cited five times.

The feature film starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley ultimately came away with only one Golden Globe, that of best actress for Demi Moore. On the directing side, Brady Corbet was voted best director for the highly anticipated The Brutalistalso named best dramatic film, Adrien Brody also winning the Golden Globe for best actor.

On the television side, Shogun was voted best drama series. For comedy, Hacks won the bet. Six actors were mainly distinguished: Anna Sawai, best actress, Hiroyuki Sanada, best actor in a drama series, both for Shogun. Jean Smart from Hacksbest actress in a comedy series, Jeremy Allen White best actor in a comedy series, The Bear strangely remaining in this category. Jessica Gunning for My little reindeer (also crowned best miniseries), was named best actress in a miniseries, and Colin Farrell, best actor in a miniseries for The Penguin.
