Senegal’s response was not long in coming following the French President’s remarks Emmanuel Macron on the withdrawal of French troops from the country.
In his speech to French ambassadors, Emmanuel Macron announced that it had proposed to African heads of state to reorganize the French military presence on their soil.
“As we are very polite, we gave them the primacy of the announcement,” suggested the French president.
Words which caused a reaction at the highest summit in the country of Téranga.
In response, the Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko rejected the idea that the announced withdrawal of French soldiers from his country would have given rise to negotiations between Paris and Dakar.
This is, according to the head of government, a completely erroneous statement, reacted Ousmane Sonkowhose country is one of the many African states to have requested the withdrawal of French soldiers in recent years.
“The decision taken by Senegal stems from its sole will, as a free, independent and sovereign country,” he wrote on social networks.
“On the contrary, it (France) has contributed to destabilizing certain African countries such as Libya with disastrous consequences noted on the stability and security of the Sahel,” he added.
As a reminder, Senegal and Chad have requested the departure of French soldiers, numbering 350 and a thousand respectively, from their territory, putting an end to a historic presence.
