As revealed by our Spanish colleagues from VanitatisLalla Salma of Morocco, the ex-wife of King Mohammed VI left for the winter holidays with her two children. And the destination she has chosen is none other than a posh ski resort…

After spending last summer on a beach on the Greek island of Mykonos, Lalla Salma from Morocco chose a completely different destination for her winter vacation! According to the revelations of Vanitatis the mother celebrated the Christmas holidays in Courchevel, a famous posh ski resort, located in the French Alps, where she has been a habit for many years. According to our colleagues, she was accompanied by her son Moulay al-Hassan and her daughter Lalla Khadija, fruits of her love affair with King Mohammed VI. Together, they skied and celebrated New Year’s Eve. The ex-wife of the Moroccan monarch, from whom she divorced in 2018, was seen happier than ever alongside her children. Family vacations that brought the crown prince closer to his mother, according to our colleagues.

Lalla Salma from Morocco is not the only crowned head to ski in Courchevel! According to Town and Country Magazine many members of certain royal families from around the world particularly appreciate this posh resort. This is particularly the case of Princess Caroline of Monaco who began going there in the early 1980s with her first husband, Philippe Junot. Prince William and Kate Middleton also have a habit there. George’s parents, Charlotte and Louis were even seen at Pilatus, a famous restaurant serving Savoyard specialties, our colleagues reveal. Pipa Middleton, the Saudi family as well as many stars like Kate Moss, David and Victoria Beckham and Russians regularly go to Courchevel.

Born in 1978 in Fez, Morocco, Salma Bennani, named Lalla Salma of Morocco after her marriage to Mohammed VI, is an engineer in computer engineering. She notably worked for the ONA group, which is partly owned by the royal family. It was in 1999 that she met the current sovereign, fifteen years her senior. Three years later, they married in a private ceremony. Together, they had two children: Moulay al-Hassan, born in May 2003 and Lalla Khadija, born in February 2007. Contrary to previous traditions, the young woman, now aged 46, is revealed to the general public. She thus became the first wife of a Moroccan monarch to have a role on the international scene. A truly committed woman, she notably created her own association for the fight against cancer. In 2006, she was named a goodwill ambassador for the World Health Organization. Since her divorce from Mohammed VI, Lalla Salma of Morocco has been rather discreet.
