Rennes: Transfer canceled for Brice Samba

Expected in for a week now, Brice Samba will not join the Breton club. The twist took place this Friday.

RC informed RMC that it was canceling all discussions, despite the importance and imminence of this deal which seemed to be closed. Even his coach Will Still had confided a little earlier in the day that he could not keep in his squad a player who had requested to leave the club during the transfer window. Everything therefore seemed on track, especially since Lens had done what was necessary to sign Jean Butez from Antwerp. But the northern club decided to suddenly raise its voice this Friday at the start of the evening, and therefore completely canceled the departure of Brice Samba to Rennes.

This could have disastrous consequences because according to sports radio, the northern leaders informed their goalkeeper that he could very well sit in the stands for the rest of the season if he did not accept this decision. To explain this radical measure, RC Lens highlighted the “ communications policy » from Stade Rennais, without specifying what the Breton club was specifically accused of. The “Rouge et Noir” leaders had made it known that they did not appreciate seeing Lens procrastinating in this transfer which seemed to be completed, under the pretext that they had not yet found a replacement for Brice Samba. In any case, Rennes will therefore have to find a new goalkeeper, since Jorge Sampaoli is absolutely not counting on Steve Mandanda for the second part of the season.
