In Melun, the prefectural town of Seine-et-Marne, we hold our breath. We may have missed a huge tragedy. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, around thirty 5.56 caliber cartridges, according to the first information collected, were fired. This caliber corresponds to that of assault rifles. No one was injured. And no one was arrested. An investigation was opened by the judicial police and supervised by the Melun public prosecutor's office.
It was around 1:35 a.m. that a resident called the police. In rue Claude-Bernard, in the Almont district, shots were fired. Arriving on site, the police discovered nearly thirty shell casings on the ground. “The information we have at the moment is very imprecise,” laments the deputy mayor for security, Eliana Valente. It seems to be a settling of scores against a backdrop of drug trafficking. » Except that in this story, three homes of residents, completely unrelated to this affair, received bullet holes.
Two homes located on the same landing on the fourth floor of 15, rue Claude-Bernard were hit by at least two bullets: one which passed through the small toilet window and the other which ended up in the cellar. a lady's apartment. His neighbors, a couple with a 4-year-old child, were also shot in their home.
At number 6 of the same street, at least one apartment located on the eighth floor was hit by munitions. One of these bullets ended up in a radiator. The accommodation was empty of any occupants. But a water leak was caused by the projectile, causing significant flooding for the resident on the lower floor who had to mop up all the water with the help of the firefighters.
“Fortunately, no one was injured,” reassures the elected official from Melun. But in the face of these shots, many questions remain unanswered for the moment. Starting with their authors. “Are these people from outside the city like rumors say?” », asks Eliana Valente. The technical and scientific police officers, who made the first findings, were to return to the site again this Sunday afternoon to complete the investigations.
Mayor (Horizons) Kadir Mebarek also went there as soon as he heard the news with his deputy for Security. In addition to the national police, municipal police officers secured the scene until their national colleagues told them that the situation was under control, around 2:30 a.m.
The Almont district in Melun is a drug hub. Anonymously, residents complain of being “trapped and condemned to suffer their fate”. However, the police are not remaining idle, increasing anti-drug operations in the neighborhood.
