The prefect of Mayotte announced, Friday January 3, on “restricting the sale of steel tray sheets to individuals repairing their homes upon presentation of proof of identity and proof of address, and professionals”. It comes into force on Saturday. During his trip to the department, Prime Minister François Bayrou promised to take measures to “ban and prevent the reconstruction of slums”. He detailed his “Mayotte standing” plan for reconstruction on the archipelago after the passage of Cyclone Chido.
“This measure aims to protect the Mahorais, while during the passage of cyclone Chido, the sheet metal constructions and fences were destroyed and the sheets constituted projectiles, causing a risk for human life and the safety of property and people “justifies the prefect of Mayotte on Friday.
