A fire destroyed a house in Tarn-et-Garonne. This is the 4th time in less than a week that such a disaster has occurred. This time the fire broke out in Montaigu-de-Quercy.
During the night from Saturday to Sunday, firefighters were called to a house fire. The two-story house of nearly 200 m2 caught fire, and nearly fifteen fire fighters took turns from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. to put out the blaze. It was neighbors who raised the alarm, as the owners were not on site. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
This time again, like the three other fires which have broken out in the department in recent days, the origin of the disaster seems accidental. The hypothesis of a gas problem is on the table but checks are underway to help understand what happened.
The Lauzerte gendarmes also went to the scene the evening of the fire, and the owners who were not in the house but were nearby were informed of the terrible news.
On the night of New Year’s Day, a house, empty of its occupants, was also destroyed by fire in Bruniquel. The next day, another house caught fire in Bressols, injuring the 80-year-old owner. Finally, during the night from Friday to Saturday, in Montauban, a pavilion also caught fire following an electrical problem. The family present at the time of the fire was able to get out before the firefighters arrived and were not injured.
