A 52-year-old driver dies
The driver, aged 61 according to the firefighters, went in the wrong direction at the end of the afternoon on the A16. It triggered a first accident at the Herquelingue toll gate near Boulogne-sur-Mer, without causing any injuries. It was further that the facts turned into drama.
Going against the flow of traffic, the sixty-year-old collided head-on with a second vehicle. The driver, aged 52, was killed, the prefecture said. The 46-year-old passenger was hospitalized in an absolute emergency, firefighters said.
The A16 was cut in the Paris/Boulogne-sur-Mer direction and a traffic jam of a few kilometers formed upstream of the accident, added the road surveillance unit of the zonal prefecture.
